Halfway Through Summer

We are halfway through summer and a lot is still up in the air as of right now. We aren't sure the kids are going back to school full time or if they will be going in some sort of hybrid model. Our district is pointing to going
Austen pitching
back five days a week but a lot can change as we know over the course of the next month. They are due to start school on 8/24 with no after school activities. Our high school sports association has yet to make the call if there will be fall sports this year. I think several other travel and rec programs are waiting to see what they do before completely pulling the plug on their own fall seasons. Travel seems to be a bit more loose so they may have a chance of playing if everything else gets shut down. Our own rec soccer numbers are less than half of what they were last year so we'll see how that goes this year with combined age groups likely.

We've been heading to Michigan when we can and have enjoyed some great beach days up there. The weather has certainly been great except for these crazy pop up storms that seem to wreak havoc on our sports games/practices. Glad we have that place to escape to this summer when we want and when we can - even if it's only for 24 or 36 hours like last weekend. We're contemplating buying a boat or putting in a pool up there too. Lots of time this summer to think about it and do the research. It's really been an interesting sort of summer with not much for the kids to do during the week. The girls got their hair cut for the first time in almost a year for Peyton and in almost 6 months for Hailey. They needed it! They also completed a short volleyball camp last week for three days which was a nice break especially for Hailey. She didn't want to do it but she ended up loving it. Peyton also participated at a different time/age group and I think enjoyed just having something structured to do. She's going to be doing some private swim team swim lessons over the next few weeks to likely prepare her to try out for a competitive year-round swim team in a year too. A little fitness for her and help perfecting her strokes as well as her diving to make the most of her time.
